Electrochemistry
The Electrochemistry business area comprises equipment and services mainly for the field of pharmaceuticals, fine chemicals, petrochemical and food industries as well as for environmental applications. ElectroCell, develops and markets electrochemical process equipment for laboratory tests, pilot work, and production plants.
Process Description
Proper development of electrochemical processes requires the availability of efficient and versatile cell equipment suitable for a large spectrum of demands. The prerequisite for the practical application of electro preparative techniques in the industry is thus off-the-shelf, custom-made equipment. The ElectroCell technology is based on long term development, resulting in well proven, flexible cell designs in basically four different sizes, from 10 cm2 to 16 m2 of electrode area, monopolar or bipolar. Thus the cells come in the following basic models:
Micro Flow Cell
Designed for lab evaluations and screening tests of electrodes/membranes.
Electro MP Cell
A small multipurpose cell conceived for process evaluation and experimental tests on a laboratory scale.
Electro Syn Cell
A similar versatile cell design as the MP cell but also for use in pilot and small applications/productions scale.
Electro Prod Cell
This cell allows for a number of different alternatives to be achieved in production scale, including 3- and 4-compartment configuration.
The main application areas are
- Manufacturing of fine chemicals and pharmaceutical intermediates
- Chloro alkali type processes and on-site hypochlorite production
- Food processing
- Environmental applications
Advantages of the Electrochemical processes
- No additional chemicals
- Greater product selectivity and yield
- Reduced/no disposal cost
- Recovery, recycling of wastes/pollutants
- Low capital costs/low operating costs
Services
In addition to the above key equipment, ElectroCell offers consulting and feasibility services within the fields of electrochemistry as well as engineering and commissioning services of complete plants, from pilot to commercial production scale.
